Dr. Jen Lavallee

If you were a client during 2012-2014, you may recognize the face, as Dr. Lavallee was an associate doctor at Alamo Feline Health Center. At the time, she worked as Dr. Olson – her maiden name. She might have stayed on forever, but an opportunity to work with her father, who is also a feline veterinarian, arose, and she couldn’t pass it up. So, she went to Colorado, bought her father’s practice, and worked with her father as her employee! During this time, she also got married and had 2 awesome kids. But she and her husband felt San Antonio was home, so they made the decision to head south to Texas. She has taken a little time to be a stay-at-home mom with her kids, and this has honed her patience, flexibility, and sense of humor. Dr. Lavallee is thrilled to be back with the stellar team at Alamo Feline. She feels this is a special practice and somewhere that has both state of the art and state of the heart medicine.

She is a fourth-generation veterinarian, following in the footsteps of her father, grandfather, grandmother, and great-grandfather. Dr. Lavallee earned her BS in Microbiology from University of California, Davisin 2005, and her DVM degree from Cornell University in 2009. After graduation, she completed a small animal internship, worked on dogs & cats in general practice and emergency, and then settled into feline medicine/surgery for 9 years. She has completed advanced courses in feline ultrasound, laser surgery, nuclear medicine/radiation safety, and feline dentistry. Dr. Lavallee has written veterinary publications, edited chapters in the previous edition of Dr. Norsworthy’s Feline Patient textbook and been a speaker at national conferences. She loves learning and teaching and believes in practicing common sense medicine.

Dr. Lavallee enjoys hiking, about anything “sporty” and ice cream. While she appreciates that every cat is like a snowflake, special in their own way, she is always drawn to black cats thanks to her heart kitty, Samson, a black cat from the shelter that she had for over 15 years. He lived for 3.5 years after a lymphoma diagnosis thanks to protocols from Alamo Feline!

Dr. Allison Brunner

Dr. Allison Brunner grew up in Dayton, Ohio. She always had a passion for our feline friends, starting at a young age. When she was 10 years old, she found two kittens living in the storm drain at the end of her cul-de-sac. She brought them food and constantly visited them, so naturally they followed her home. She named them Tigger and Shadow. As the warmer months turned into Ohio’s fall and winter, they gradually moved from outside, into her garage, and finally into her house.

Dr. Brunner graduated from The University of Findlay in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in animal science. During her four years in Findlay, she played collegiate softball and was the starting second basemen in her Junior and Senior years. In 2020 she was accepted into Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and made her journey down south. She joined a student-run foster-based rescue organization through Mississippi State called Homeward Bound. It specialized in working with kittens. She was able to help over 120 kittens find their forever homes. Two of those cats, Lana and Luna, found their forever home with her. Dr. Brunner’s interest in feline medicine grew throughout her involvement with Homeward Bound and during her time on clinical rotations at Mississippi State. By her Senior year she was known as the ‘Cat Lady” of her class. Her senior advisor recommended that she do a 4-week externship at Alamo Feline Health Center, so she could see firsthand what a feline-only practice looked like. Prior to that experience she was especially interested in working with horses. After about two weeks into her externship, she had already decided feline-only practice was in her future. She was amazed by the quality of care provided to the clients and patients at Alamo Feline Health Center and knew that this was a place where she could have a solid foundation in feline medicine, especially at the start of her career.

In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her cats, reading, crafting, and working out. She is learning how to speak Texan as she explores a state that is new to her.

Behind the scenes
If you are lucky you may get to see me, sometimes I bestow the privilege of a pet to some people. I am far too beautiful for the common human to touch. The humans that work here are still learning that I am to be pampered with no real acknowledgement as any true cat should. While humans are beneath me, for the most part I love other cats and am an amazing momma cat. I am very progressive in that way. I help out around here and monitor patients for the humans around here. While I may have all the looks I also have the brains, I consult with Dr. Norsworthy about surgical procedures and treatments. In my free time I like to chase toys. My favorite thing is to put my kills in the middle of the floor so the humans here can praise me for the great job I have done, don’t get me started on my ability to catch that red light that comes from the magical object.

Philbert aka Phil

Investment adviser, CFO (chief feline officer)
The way the economy is going you can be sure I am saving my cat nip knots for hard times. I have to keep an eye on everyone here to make sure they are being frugal and smart with the food and treats. I make sure to clean every last morsel that these other wasteful cats leave in the bowl. I have been trying to advise Dr. Norsworthy to invest in plenty of cat condo real estate and to be sure to put his money in the cat treat market. So far he hasn’t listened and that will be why he will never get to retire. I don’t have free time because I spend most of my time on standby in the office in case Dr. Norsworthy needs to discuss business management.

Technician Therapist
I enjoyed my prior job as boarding manager but when we had to shut down boarding because of Covid I knew I was destined for greater things. I was moved downstairs where all the action happens. When I am not saving lives, I am helping to keep the technicians mental health on track with a neck massage or a nice lap sit. A purring cat is proven to reduce stress by 99.9%.
